Living with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) can be physically and emotionally challenging. The MERcURY Study is a new research initiative designed to explore how mindfulness can improve the psychological well-being of PF patients. Funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing Grant Programme, this study offers a unique opportunity to access a free, online mindfulness program tailored specifically for those with PF.
What is the MERcURY Study?
The MERcURY Study, which has been co-designed with experts from the pulmonary fibrosis community, aims to evaluate the benefits of a four-week Compassionate Mindful Resilience (CMR) Program, a condensed version of the widely recognised Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course. The program teaches simple, effective mindfulness techniques to help reduce stress and build emotional resilience.

How Will Results Be Shared?
The findings will be published in peer-reviewed journals and shared on the charity platforms, such as Pulmonary Fibrosis NI, Asthma and Lung UK, Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, as well as the Breathing Matters website. The results will also be presented at academic conferences, ensuring the research reaches both medical professionals and patients.
